For some reason I don't remember my 16th birthday. HAH.
16th Summer:
Andover, Mass.
-Missin ma for a week. Then getting over it because she called twice a day.
-Arissa Oh. My RA. Damn she was definitely a cool person.
-Walkin in the sweltering heat on day 1, coming back carrying a jug of water from downtown which was 10 minutes away. Contained a CVS, a toy store, and a dunkin donuts. Those were the highlights. OOH, wait there was a burger joint there...which wasn't in the safest place in town. But the burgers were alright...
-5 people in my Philosophy class. Good times. Of course, can't think so fast on my feet, especially when analyzing moral reasoning...so I was the quietest. Hah.
-SAT class...that was bullshit. The Dominican Republic girls talked the most. Pretty boys came in late. I always hated that one.
-Tai Chi. Hah. 3 out of 5 of my Philosophy buds were in that with me. Remember when Dylan and I ate like 16 popsicles one day when we didn't do anything.
-How could I forget FRISBEE. Frisbee in the big green. Right next to the Lacrosse players. Hah.
-Hodge. That guy was large. I think he almost drowned me in the pool like twice. "Playing" with me...more like...I can't swim if you keep throwing me around in the deep end. Goodness. Honestly I was scared for my life but kept laughing.
-Mosquito Theater! Got hella bites.
-Mami Nagaoki? Is that her last name? I need to find my journal. But yeah...she was a funny roommate. I'd always have to wake her up.
-Breakfast, commons. The walk in the morning. The morning was my favorite time because the air was brisk and the walk was calm. Lived for the mornings with tator tots.
-Huan Ly. Hah, my Indy buddy there. Whatever happened to him? Hah...hope you're having fun at Cal, bud.
-My Turkish housemate. She was fun. She really loved Alan Rickman. Kind of a weird obsession.
-Bad stomach problems. Haha...led to some embarrassing moments.
-College Tours and actually thinking I'd make it there. Hah. My favorite was Yale. Second favorite was Harvard because I hear they have tennis courts underground. Then Brown, but lots of punk kids with pit bulls in the city near. And I sat next to this Jewish girl who insisted on making me read this comic about the Holocaust. OOoh and Coach buses. Hah. How many times did we watch There's Something About Mary...
-Sneaking into buildings at night to create adventures. We made our own hearts beat quickly.
-Boston. Fell in love with a dream. Come back and become a face. Know it's somewhere I have no friends, but I wanna go back, if only for a bit, just to disappear.
-Weekends where I had nothing to do. Campus was so empty and I was so alone. But it was cool, I always did laundry.
-The mail room, the lounge. Hah, I remember getting one letter. And that was from Tyrone. And it included a picture of hella people from here taken at his bday party at the park. Thanks over and over again, because it made me feel loved.
-My bare walls consisted of the collage Noemi made me and my Hindu Bunch picture.
-Oh my bed. I got so attached to that thing.
-My window and the hornet's net outside of it.
-"Dance parties" haha I went to one. And they played the Monster Mash at the end...and I think 80's music? I don't remember, but it was whack and I was sweaty.
Coming back thinking I was the shit because I left home for a month. but then my dad slapped me and told me to stop acting like that. So I did. but then I left again for a week for camp haha and then felt like i was the shit. Cocky motherfucker. I got slaps for that too.
Well anyways...that was a good fucking summer. I know my family is hella tired of it, and I'm bringing it back now four years later, but I just started thinkin bout it. Decided to look it up. Found it and the pictures reminded me of those days. Summer and the faces that I met. The faces that are just faces now. And somewhere in my room I have chopsticks that my roommate gave me, a spindel that the Turkish housemate gave me, and a squirt gun I bought with Dylan one hot day for fun.
I don't know. Wow I escaped for a summer. Hah. Back when it didn't matter as much as it does now. Or did it...
