Thank you, Elliott Smith

Dear Elliott Smith,

Thank you for living a tragically beautiful life and making music my heart can beat to. To live and keep living. For the sake of listening, and for sharing my feelings with others, through only you.

Sincerely,
Vanessa E.

Yeah, I rocked that speech. Had them at hello. Started with "Miss Misery." A soundbyte. Gave them a brief biography and then trickled into the profundity and poignancy of his music and that sound. Played "Waltz #2," read them lyrics from "Miss Misery" and "Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands." Finally ended with "Let's Get Lost."

So everyone, let's get lost. Let's find some beautiful place to get lost...

Now...left to worry about...is the schedule...yeahhhhh...and moving. I gotta pack. And tomorrow I need to get a haircut...because my hair is driving me nuts.

I hear noises....coming from my desk...I think I'm paranoid about that spider.

What got me when I was making my speech was that at the beginning the teacher was lookin at me all mad and stuff, so I started to stiffen up and talk louder, and then halfway through she started smiling, and I thought...maybe I'm doing it right. 155/170. 91%, my FIRST "A" IN SUCH A LONG TIME. Well, I'm optimistic about this coming semester...

Classes, sure, I'll do it, I can take it. My parents found out about my failings...brief interrogation when I got home to which I walked away when they started talking about Kappa.

Kappa, yeah, there's my heart and my passion. We're gonna work so hard to keep it up...we gots to keep it up.

Family, ok. Always there. But I don't know if I'll be around much, so I hope they understand.

I have to catch up with my life, because time is moving faster than I can think...these moves are left to be made...

Man the day felt so great until I looked at my schedule...forget that one down there. But I have to catch up....gotta.

Here's to tomorrow....

Waking up early...packing...

Are there times contagious
I've never been this bored before
Is this the prize I've waited for
Now as the hour passing
There's nothing left here to insure
I long to find a messenger
Have I got a long way to run( 2 x)

Yeah...I run
Is this a cure among us?

From this processed sanity
I weaken with each voice that sings
In this world of purchase I'm going to buy back memories
To awaken some old qualities
Have I got a long way to run(3x)

Yeah...I run.
Collective Soul. Run.

It's been the song that's been running through me lately. Download it ya'll.

Meanwhile...I've got a long way to run.
