Just for you, Punk Rock Josh
"What We Call Beauty"
Mortals want to touch what belongs to the divine.
Beauty is one of those immortal features that we marvel at;
something that is owned only by Gods and Goddesses and displayed in diamonds,
in stories that we hear as children and see in material things we desire.
But we fail to realize the folly in this perception of beauty
and we do not consider simple things to compare with superhuman qualities.
But I see beauty in the slanted paths of raindrops
on a dark October day.
The first rain of the season;
another new beginning
and an end to the carefree season of summer.
I see beauty in youth
and their innocent, adorable obliviousness.
Reminders of years passed and longed for.
Watching them elicit smiles and a familiar twinkled in the eyes of the aged;
a twinkle that makes even diamonds look dull.
I see beauty in the unity of all men
regardless of race or creed;
this view shared with a great man,
who died for what he believed in.
A life taken for lives,
shattered by a gun of hate.
I share this hope of peace with many.
There is beauty in peace.
The whole world must realize this.
Only then may we create a society suitable for our innocent youth;
a place where everyone will appreciate the meaning
of that first October rain,
and where beauty is more than just the twinkle of a diamond,
or a picture of a Goddess,
but the twinkle in billions of eyes as they laugh,
because they have just touched a piece of heaven.
There ya go, PRJ. "i wanna read genius with my very own eyes" Genius is just too much. I'll settle for "good-bullshitter."
